The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry announced in October 2004 that concurrent public inquiries ("the Public Inquiry") were to be held into the applications by Renewable Development Company Limited and Falck Renewables Limited* for consent to construct and operate a 67.5 MW wind turbine generating station in the vicinity of Whinash, Bretherdale and Roundthwaite Commons, Borrowdale near Tebay in the County of Cumbria.

*There was a formal change of applicants name to "Chalmerston Wind Power Limited" 

Mr David Rose BA(Hons), MRTPI was appointed as the Inspector to conduct the Public Inquiry, which started at 10 am on Tuesday 19 April 2005 in the Shap Wells Hotel, Shap, Cumbria.  The Inquiry closed on Friday 17 June 2005.  Site visits were then undertaken.

Pre-Inquiry Meetings were held on Monday 29 November 2004 (at Kendal Town Hall) and on Monday 31 January 2005 (at Shap Well Hotel).  Copies of the Agendas and of the Notes of those meetings may be viewed from the Pre-Inquiry Meeting page.
