WINDFARM SITES AND SURROUNDING AREA SITE VISITS - 24th, 25th and 26th September 2008
The Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) called a joint public inquiry into two applications under the Electricity Act 1989 for consent to construct and operate two wind turbine generating stations at land near Kirkwhelpington, Northumberland and at Ray Estate, Northumberland. The inquiry also considered the proposed wind turbine generating station at land at Green Rigg Fell, Birtley - on appeal following application for planning permission under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 - and which was determined by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. The inquiry opened on Tuesday 15th January 2008 at the Britannia Newcastle Airport Hotel.

Mr David M H Rose, BA (Hons, MRTPI is the Planning Inspector who has been appointed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government and the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform to hold this joint public local inquiry into:-
1) an appeal, under the provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, by Wind Prospect Developments Ltd against the failure of the Tynedale District Council to determine within the statutory time period an application for the erection and operation of 18 wind turbines with associated tracks, underground cables, switchgear building and anemometer mast on land at Green Rigg Fell, Birtley Parish, Tynedale;
2) an application by Amec Project Investments Limited, under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989, to construct and operate a wind turbine generating station on land at the Ray Estate, Northumberland;
3) an application by Steadings Wind Farm Limited, under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989, to construct and operate a wind turbine generating station on land near Kirkwhelpington, Nothumberland.
