18 June 2007: CLOSING STATEMENTS/SUBMISSIONS

15 June 2007: INQUIRY CLOSED

Mr Keith Smith formally closed the Inquiry at 6.35pm of Friday 15th June 2007.

8 June 2007: Latest date for submission of documents

The Inquiry reconvened last Tuesday 5th June 2007 and the planned programme for the week was completed.  Next week three objectors cases are due to be heard and all the closing submissions of the Rule 6 parties and the Applicants.

25 May 2007: Inquiry Documents List

The latest Inquiry Documents List on the website now shows those documents submitted during Inquiry Week 7 (15th - 18th May) highlighted in yellow for ease of reference.  Similarly, documents being submitted during the current adjournment are highlighted in blue.

24 May 2007: Energy White Paper

Following the publication of the Energy White Paper, the Inspector has invited the Rule 6 parties to consider commenting on it in their closing submissions.  In particular the Inspector gas said that he would welcome comments upon Paragraphs 5.3.64-5.3.72 in Chapter 5 on Renewables and Chapter 8 on Planning.

18 May 2007: Inquiry Adjourned

The Inquiry was adjourned this afternoon for two weeks.  It will resume at 10.00am on Tuesday 5th June 2007 at the Vikings Hotel, Goole.  The programme for this week includes the case for Doncaster Sheffield Airport and other objectors and the continuation of the case for the supporters, Friends of Tween Bridge.  Doncaster Sheffield Airport complete their case the following Tuesday. During the rest of that inquiry week (beginning 12th June), the Inspector will hear the closing submissions of the Rule 6 parties before formally closing the inquiry.  Click here for full programme.  

15 May 2007: Inquiry Re-Convened

Following its three month adjournment, the Inquiry resumed at 10.00am on Tuesday 15th May and, after the Inspector's re-opening remarks, continued with the case for Natural England.

9th, 10th and 11th May 2007: Accompanied Site Inspections

The Inspector visited the proposed site for the Keadby Windfarm on Wednesday 9th May accompanied by representatives of the Keadby objectors and the applicants, Renewable Energy Systems.  On Thursday 10th May, he was accompanied by representatives of Tween Bridge objectors and supporters and of the applicants, E.ON.  On the following day, a similar party visited Thorne Moor and the Humberland Peatlands National Nature Reserve. The programme officer was in attendance throughout these site inspections.  (Note: The Inspector has carried out many unaccompanied visits of the area of both the proposed windfarms and of other sites further afield.) 

2 May 2007: Latest documents

Added to the Inquiry Documents today was a Written Representation from the Environment Agency dated 26 April 2007 on Coal Mining Mitigation Measures.  This joins a number of Inquiry Documents added since the Inquiry adjourned on 16 February.  These was shown in red on the latest edition of the Inquiry Documents List.

A further document has also been added to the Core Documents (numbered CD248) entitled

 "Update of noise database for prediction of noise on construction and open sites.  Phase 3: Noise measurement data for construction plant used on quarries.  July 2006”, DEFRA

The Inspector has invited additional written comments, if any, from noise witnesses and others. 

1 May 2007: Latest Programme for resumption published

The latest programme has been published today for the remaining weeks of the Inquiry, which re-convenes on Tuesday 15 May 2007.  This week visits to the Liverpool and Robin Hood airports are taking place (see below).  Next week, site inspections are to take place on 9th (Keadby area) and 10th May 2007 (Tween Bridge area), the week prior to re-opening on 15th May. 

27 April 2007: Site Visits to Airports

The Inspector will be undertaking visits next week to Liverpool John Lennon Airport on 2nd May and to Robin Hood Airport on 3rd May accompanied by representatives of RES, E.ON, Friends of Tween Bridge and TDWAG.  These visits are in connection with the Doncaster Sheffield Airports Ltd objections. 

19 February 2007: Initial Programme for resumption published

An initial outline programme has been published today for the remaining weeks of the Inquiry.  It only gives an indication of who is expected to appear in each of the weeks.  Discussions on finalizing the appearance days for each participant are continuing.

16 February 2007: Inquiry Adjourned

The Inquiry was adjourned this afternoon and will re-convene at 10.00am on 15th May 2007 at the Vikings Hotel, Goole (see Inquiry Venue for further details).  Discussions on the programme for these weeks is continuing.

15 February 2007: Inquiry to adjourn/Site Visit dated announced

Inquiry Adjourns tomorrow - Dates for resumption announced.

The Inquiry will adjourn tomorrow (16th February 2007) until 15th May 2007 for one week. It will then adjourn again until 5th June 2007 when it will sit for two weeks to close on !5th June 2007. Site inspections are planned to take place on 9th and 10th May 2007, the week prior to re-opening on 15th May 2007. A provisional outline programme for the resumption will be published later tomorrow, 16th February.

24 January 2007: Evening sessions

Evening session to be held at Seven Lakes Leisure Park, Ealand, Crowle between 19:00 and 22:00. A further evening session is to be held on Thursday 1st February 2007 at The Trinity Academy, Thorne between 18:30 and 21:30.

09 January 2007: Inquiry Opened

Public Inquiry opened at 10.30am by the Inspector, Mr Keith Smith.  Following his opening, the Rule 6 parties presented their opening statements. Click here for the latest programme.

At the pre-inquiry meeting the Inspector undertook to investigate the possibility of alternative venues for the inquiry, including the evaluation of those suggested by the parties at the meeting.

21st September 2006: Outline Statements published

1st September 2006: Pre-Inquiry Meeting Agenda available

The Inspector's Agenda for the Pre-Inquiry Meeting published on website and was issued to respondees during two week period beginning 4 September under cover of letter from Roger Claxton introducing himself as the Programme Officer for the Inquiry.

27th July 2006: Inquiry Notice and Statement of Matters issued

The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry announces joint Public Inquiry into the Humberhead Levels windfarms applications.  At the same time, notice is given of a Pre-Inquiry Meeting to be held on Monday 25 September 2006 at the Vikings Hotel, Goole.

The Secretary of State also serves the Statement of Matters which appear to him to be likely to be relevant to his consideration of the applications.
