"The Council published its Core Strategy (CS) and invited representations between 8 December 2008 to 2 February 2009. On 6 March 2009 the CS was submitted to the Secretary of State (SOS) for Communities and Local Government for independent examination. An Inspector held two Pre-Hearing meetings on 30 April and 10 June 2009 and adjourned the Hearing for 6 months to enable the Council to address her concerns through undertaking further technical studies. These studies are expected to inform the revised CS to the extent it would require further public consultation. On 5 January 2010 under Section 22 (2) (b) of the Act the Council received formal direction from the SOS to withdraw its CS.

The Council intends to submit a revised CS to the SOS later in 2010."
